Scouting America has always been a uniformed body. Its uniforms help to create a sense of belonging. They symbolize character development, leadership, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Wearing a uniform gives youth and adult members a sense of identification and commitment.
While wearing the uniform is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged. The leaders of Scouting— both volunteer and professional—promote the wearing of the correct complete uniform on all suitable occasions.
Lions through Webelos scouts (Kindergarten through 4th Grade) should wear a navy blue Cub Scout Field Uniform shirt with nice looking jeans or Navy Blue slacks or Shorts.
Arrow of Light scouts should wear the tan Scout Field uniform shirt with nice looking Jeans or OD Green slacks or shorts.
Webelos scouts can upgrade to the tan Scout Field Uniform if they outgrow their navy blue field uniform, or if they are joining cub scouts scouts for the first time.
The Official Bottoms are not required.
Insignia needed:
Council Strip Patch (If you are purchasing your Field Uniform online)
Red #9 Patch
Webelos and AOLs will need the "Adventure Rank Colors" to pin their awards to, and Tan Uniforms will need the navy blue shoulder loops.

The Scout Shop at the Tampa Bay Area Council Service Center (AKA "The Scout Office") will help you with everything you need. Let them know your pack number is 9.

Belt (for Lion through Bear)
Closed toe shoes
Optional items: Matching Cap, Matching Scout shorts/pants, Cub Scout socks. Optional patches: Purple WOSM patch, Centennial Ring patch
The pack may have some uniforms and uniform parts that have been donated. Please check with pack leadership before making purchases.
When buying a uniform, go a little bigger so your scout can grow into it.
Uniforms are expensive, and A Scout Is Thrifty. If the pack doesn't have one in your scout's size and you're okay with a little sewing, check on eBay for older shirts and attach the correct patches. If Purchasing a Tan shirt, look for one that has brown buttons, shoulder epaulets, and a Cotton/Poly blend. You may see these referred to as "Oscar de la Renta" or ODL. These uniforms breathe better than more modern options and are better suited to Florida.
Have a look at Scouting America's Cub Scout Uniform Page for more information.
Each child will be required to have his own handbook. Remember to get the handbook appropriate for the program in which your boy will be participating (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, or AOL). We will have Books available for purchase at the first several meetings.
